Robyn is proud to say she is a second generation, native Arizonian. She is quick to point out that she will always take the heat over the cold, especially after living in Sheboygan, Wisconsin for five, L-O-N-G winters. A graduate of McClintock high school, and Arizona State University, both in Tempe, she feels like the Valley of the Sun is in her DNA.
Speaking of Valley, Robyn has one child, Brandon, who is a VCJH grad. from 2014, and another, Kaitlyn, who will graduate in 2016. “I liked the school so much, I had to work here,” Robyn says. Prior to teaching at Valley, Robyn taught middle school in both the public and Christian school sector, and she served in administration as well.
Robyn received her Master’s Degree in Adult and Continuing Education from The University of Phoenix, and she has used that degree many times as she has worked with teachers in a staff development capacity and as a presenter of curriculum at a national level.
Robyn and her husband of 24 years, Dave, find themselves getting a taste of what “empty nest life” is going to feel like since neither of their teenage children is ever home. To pass the time, they like to exercise together, so they can eat together. Robyn sees travelling as a hobby she hopes to be able to pursue in the near future.
Robyn says that someone wise once told her that a great teacher doesn’t just teach a subject, they teach a child. Robyn considers her job at Valley a gift from God. “Valley,” she says, “is my mission field, and I want to make a difference for the cause of Christ within its walls!”
